Mountaineering Reunion
For many A/U Ranches mountaineering alumni – plus those of us on the National Alumni Board (NAB) – the Mountaineering Reunion held during Mini Camp in August was a happy reconnection several years in the making.
MoreWith five summers of experimenting with program activities and overnight trips, Cap Andrews, I think, was looking for something new to challenge those campers who had already “done it all.” Thus came into being The Four Peaks Trip, an overnight at Kite Lake above Alma, CO, and a one-day ascent of four 14,000-foot peaks.
MorePhotographic proof of my first peak climb was captured on a roll of Kodak 110 film taken by a camera that looked more like a block of cheese than the sleek phones in our pockets these days.
MoreThis fun-filled week will include mountain activities like hiking, swimming, ropes course, archery, rock climbing and more. Don’t miss this special opportunity to reunite with your fellow alumni in the Rocky Mountains.
MoreOne thing I always stressed with my campers was that our ultimate goal wasn’t to get to the top of a mountain, but to enjoy the journey.
MoreRegardless of changes made to the structure of residential Youth Camp, what’s most important about camp will stay the same – growing closer to God, spending time with friends and participating in awesome activities.
MoreThe National Alumni Board (NAB) and your fellow mountaineering alumni are sending you a virtual care package this summer! It’s been a treat to connect with alumni from multiple decades in preparation for the Mountaineering Reunion, which will now take place August 22-28, 2021.
MoreShe climbed Colorado’s 58 14,000-ft peaks in a year and a half while running 50-mile races and carrying a full college course load. This is Annie Hughes, a remarkable mountaineer, ultra-athlete and alumna of A/U Ranches Family Camp and Camp Kohahna, who has taken her love of the outdoors to extremes. Literally.
MoreWhile everyone is staying at home, we’re still planning activities for when we can come together again. There’s something here for every alum to do. Join us!
MoreWe are getting very excited to see all of you back at the A/U Ranches this August for what is sure to be the ultimate reunion. Whether you were on staff as a guide or a camper that majored in mountaineering like me, or someone who came to enjoy hiking as an adult, this is an event not to miss. The mountains are calling. Will you answer?
