Throughout the year, Adventure Unlimited has various capital expenses that are not covered by our operations-specific Annual Fund. The items on this page are examples of current capital needs for A/U Ranches and DiscoveryBound programs. Your gift to our general Wish List will support these needs and directly benefit participants.
ASPEN GROVE EXTERIOR RAILINGS REPLACEMENT
After 13 years baking in the Colorado sun, the exterior railings of Aspen Grove’s balconies need to be replaced. Our facilities crew has perfected the railing system on the decks of Valerie Lodge and Chuckwagon and will change Aspen Grove’s to match this new design.

ROPES COURSE SHELTER
This shelter will help ensure safety and comfort at our most-used activity at the A/U Ranches. The simple structure will provide safety from fast-moving summer storms for adult and youth participants in DiscoveryBound and A/U Ranches programs (including the 100 Elk Outdoor Center), as well as shelter from surprisingly cold and snowy fall and spring storms.
Total cost: $6,500

YURT KITCHEN UPGRADE
Completed in 2012, the yurt campus at the A/U Ranches houses the newest DiscoveryBound National Leadership Council classes during their orientation summer program, as well as participants in other programs. Currently the yurts have a partial kitchen containing a half-size refrigerator and gas cooktop; this project adds a full-size household oven + range combo and a high-efficiency, full-size household refrigerator/freezer unit. These additions will support independent use of the yurts for overnight programs, removing the stress of catering from the main kitchens and permitting greater use during the busy summer camp season.

NEW ROPES COURSE ELEMENT
Help us fund a new element design and installation to permit more independent participation on the high elements of the ropes course. This addition will supplement another element that gets limited use because it requires a ground crew to work in concert with the climber.
Total cost: $4,000

NEW ROPES COURSE HARNESSES
An element in the high course requires participants to wear a special full-body harness with a clip on the back, different from the standard harnesses. A donation of $1,000 would allow eight more harnesses to be purchased to add to the two existing ones, allowing more campers to participate in this element more regularly.
Total cost: $1,000
