What’s Happening at the Ranches

By Alison Peticolas – A/U Ranch Director

To carry out our mission of “Opening Windows to God” the A/U Ranches offer a wide variety of fun and challenging activities that teach campers new skills and a practical reliance on God. As these programs continue to evolve, and our equipment and facilities are used, they need to be enhanced and maintained, but it comes at a cost. We need your help to ensure the A/U Ranches keep getting better!

Every summer is the same. All year long we prepare for camp in so many ways. In June, almost 100 young adults arrive and train to become awesome counselors. Four hundred campers over three sessions come and have camp experiences filled with adventure, growth and fun. Then 100 family guests and then 30 adults and then, whew, we are done again.

And yet, every summer is completely unique! This summer we had a gorgeous, brand new deck on Chuckwagon to have dance parties on and to hang out. The yurts were finished with bathrooms, decks for lounging, a fire circle, a kitchen and a grill. The Ranch was blessed with rain and sun making everything lush and verdant.

Every summer is exactly the same and completely unique – expressing the unbroken continuity of good…

13_zipline-aurafting13This summer was special for the rafters. We started off the season with a Rafting and Kayaking Staff Reunion with thirty alumni enjoying early season boating, wonderful camaraderie and renewed connections to the Ranch. Second session at Round-Up saw 39 campers in the largest Rafting program for many years. And, the water in the river lasted through Family Camp providing more than 100 trips on the river for Family Camp guests.

This summer was filled with healing. A high school girl had a beautiful healing following a mountain bike incident. An eight year old boy had a healing that was so important that the best part of camp for him was his healing. Family camp guests felt the love of camp, experiencing each interaction as a blessing. Strength, courage, freedom, dominion and patience were demonstrated on the lakes and rivers, on horseback, on the tops of peaks and sides of mountains.

Every summer is exactly the same and completely unique – expressing the unbroken continuity of Good in the experience of every person who comes to the A/U Ranches through the infinite individuality that comes from the expression of Soul.
