Human Resources Manager
Location: Denver HQ offices, preferred | Full time
General Description:
The Human Resource Manager will be responsible for managing all HR functions, ensuring compliance with employment laws, overseeing hiring and onboarding processes, employee relations, performance management, and other HR functions to ensure a positive and effective workplace. This position plays a key role in building and nurturing a productive, motivated, and engaged workforce.
This role will work closely with the Director of Finance and Operations to manage and oversee the HR policies and procedures of Adventure Unlimited. It ensures all employees are familiar with the policies, as outlined in the Employee Handbook. With support from our Paycom consultant, this position also aids in the accurate timecard management, tracking of personal, vacation and comp time accrual, helps with follow-up of workers’ compensation claims and audits, and oversees all aspects of the employee experience. This role will also work closely with the President supporting personnel and leadership management matters as needed.
Characteristic / Essential Duties and Functions:
1. HR Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement HR policies and procedures aligned with organizational goals.
- Work closely with the leadership team to assess workforce needs and develop recruitment, retention, and development strategies.
- Lead organizational change initiatives and improve overall employee engagement and satisfaction.
2. Recruitment & Onboarding
- Oversee full-cycle recruitment, from job postings to interview processes, and ensure a smooth hiring experience.
- Design and execute effective onboarding programs that integrate new hires into the organization.
3. Employee Relations & Culture
- Act as the primary point of contact for employee concerns and resolve conflicts in a fair, timely, and confidential manner.
- Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture where employees feel valued and respected.
- Work alongside the President to foster a complete and well-rounded employee experience.
4. Compensation & Benefits
- Support the Director of Operations in the organization’s compensation structure and ensure it is competitive and fair.
- Support the Accounts Manager in administering employee benefits programs (health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, etc.) and ensure compliance with all applicable laws.
5. Performance Management & Development
- Oversee performance management processes, including goal setting, reviews, and feedback.
- Create and implement employee development programs that support career growth and skill advancement.
- Encourage continuous learning opportunities to enhance individual and team performance.
6. Legal Compliance & Risk Management
- With the Accounts Manager, ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations.
- Keep up to date with any changes in employment law and recommend necessary policy updates.
- Maintain accurate employee records and handle any legal or compliance-related issues.
7. Training & Development
- Coordinate and facilitate training programs to enhance employee skills, including leadership development, workplace safety, and job-specific training.
- Identify opportunities for professional growth and create resources to support employees’ learning and development goals.
8. Payroll & HR Administration
- With the Accounts Manager oversee payroll processing and ensure that all compensation is accurate and timely.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, including personnel files, job descriptions, and performance documentation.
- Support the Director of Operations in HR-related projects and initiatives.
Education / Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years’ related experience required.
- Strong knowledge of HR policies, labor laws, and best practices.
- SHRM-CP credential preferred.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Devoted to the study and application of Christian Science; lives according to the Adventure Unlimited Community Standards; is committed to Adventure Unlimited’s mission of service to Christian Science youth and families.
- Member of The Mother Church and/or active Christian Science branch church member; class instruction desirable
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Able to utilize Google platform for email, calendars, and documents.
- Knowledge of Paycom or other payroll systems.
- Awareness of donor confidentiality
- Exceptional written and oral communicator
Benefits:
This is a 12-month, full-time, exempt position with offered benefits as detailed in the employee handbook including healthcare provision, life, vision, dental, STD, vacation and personal time accruals, and an employer-match retirement savings plan. An annual pay range $75,000 – $95,000 (neg. based upon experience).
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required. Some travel may be required.
