Round-Up Ranch Majors - For 9th-12 Graders *

HORSEMANSHIP:
You'll participate in training our younger horses, practice arena work, ride the trails, and enjoy games and lessons around the Ranches. The 3-day horse pack trip will take you across the valley, where your horses will be trailered to some of the finest horse country anywhere, or you will ride up into the majesty of the Collegiate Peaks Range.

POLOCROSSE: (Sessions 2 & 3):
For skilled riders who want to learn to play Polocrosse, "King of the One Horse Sports". Akin to Lacrosse on horseback, Polocrosse is a fast moving game of three horse and rider pairs on each team. Besides learning balanced horsemanship, racquet and ball skills, campers will play in an official Polocrosse tournament.

NEW! - WORKING CATTLE: (Session 1)
Learn one of the true American West Cowboy skills! This new program gives campers with solid, basic horsemanship skills the opportunity to learn real-life cowboy/cowgirl abilities including sorting, separating, and driving cattle. The session will culminate in a competitive cattle working event. Campers will gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the talents needed to work on today's cattle ranches. As with Polocrosse, this session is for those who want to advance their skills through practical applications.

MOUNTAIN MOSAIC:
If you're new to Round-Up Ranch, this is the perfect program for you. You'll experience a wide range of activities, including mountain biking, the ropes course, rock climbing, caving, rafting, and climbing a peak in the Colorado Rockies while on a 3-day backpacking trip.

CONQUERORS 10th-12th Graders: (Session 3)
If you're an experienced mountaineer, Conquerors is a great option. In Conquerors you'll climb amazing rock faces in the Arkansas Valley and mountain bike on unbelievable trails - all while focusing on leadership, teamwork, and service. The highlight for many is the 4-day backpack trip in the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness where you'll scale a 14,000-foot peak and do an overnight solo!

ROCKY MOUNTAIN THEATER: (Session 1)
Are you interested in theater? Do you love the mountains? Here's a program that unites the two! True to A/U's mission, we make theater an outdoor adventure. Through playing theater games, building an ensemble and rehearsing a short play, campers explore the environment around camp and find new "stages" for performing. Use your imagination and creativity and see how acting can intertwine with nature and contribute to spiritual growth!

WHITEWATER RAFTING:
Come raft Colorado's most popular whitewater with us! This major offers an unmatched way to develop teamwork in a fun, safe, and supportive environment. A/U's own state-certified river guides help you learn to paddle as a team, read the river, and navigate rapids. Your crew will take on rapids like "Zoom Flume" and "Pinball". You'll practice your skills on a 3-day overnight trip of rafting and camping your way down the Arkansas River.

PHOTOGRAPHY: (Sessions 2 & 3)
If you love fine photography or want to become a camera pro, this major is for you! Staff will guide participants through a digital photography program that includes equipment use, artistic theory, downloading, cropping and editing, slide shows, and more. The 3-day trip will take you to some truly spectacular high mountain areas for stunning photo opportunities.

MOUNTAIN BIKING: (Sessions 1 & 2)
Come enjoy a camp-based mountain biking major. We will start on easier trails building skill and fitness, and work our way up to harder trails like the Mt. Princeton Classic. The 3-day overnight trip provides the opportunity to ride from camp out to our campsite and back again, while a truck hauls the gear out to meet us.

WHITEWATER KAYAKING: (Session 3)
Ever wondered what it's like to really work with the current of a river, or wanted to learn how to surf one of those glassy waves in Brown's Canyon? If so, whitewater kayaking is for you! We start with stroke instruction on the lake and rolling lessons in the pool, then progress to more moderate sections of the Arkansas River, like "Milk Run". By the end of the session you'll learn to surf and freestyle kayak in Brown's Canyon - exciting!

COUNSELOR-IN-TRAINING PROGRAM:
If you are 17-18 years old, we invite you to apply for this summer-long counselor training program. As a CIT you will have opportunities to lead, to learn, to work hard, and to grow spiritually. A CIT earns a modest wage to help defray travel costs and personal expenses. If you're interested in finding out more about being part of the team, call for an application at 1.888.543.4849, ext. 101.

NEW! - SOCCER CLINIC: (Session 2)
Whether you're getting ready for fall soccer season with your team or just up for learning the basics of the game for the first-time, you will love the fun and instruction on Hubbell Field (the best grass above 8,500 feet in the country)! Coaches and college players from around the country will be gathering here to share their skills and love for the game.
