OPENING WINDOWS TO GOD...
YESTERDAY…
Adventure Unlimited has blossomed from an idea of a World War II submarine officer into a multi-national, non-profit organization to benefit young Christian Scientists, their families and friends. After his wartime experiences, John "Cap" and Marianne Andrews began to challenge young Christian Science men in the mid 1950s at a western-style, Rocky Mountain, summer camp. They wanted to strengthen the boys physically, mentally, and spiritually so they could handle life's challenges.

A few years later, Round-Up Ranch for girls was added with the same goals to the existing Sky Valley Ranch for boys that was located in the Colorado Rockies near Buena Vista. Not long thereafter, parents and young campers wanted the same experience, year-round, in their local and regional communities. Thus, the Adventure Unlimited Field Chapter program developed with local chapters reaching over 120 in number and some located in other countries.

TODAY…
Today, Adventure Unlimited holds youth summer camps for about 600 campers from around the world at its 1,100 acre Ranches near Buena Vista. Sky Valley Ranch holds programs for 3-8th graders and Round-Up Ranch is for the 9-12th graders. We have two family summer camp sessions that are actively occupied each August. The traditional Christmas Family Ranching continues as a festive and inspirational event each year and is followed by the College New Year Stampede, a budget ski week for the college age. Late September brings an opportunity for men to enjoy the beauty of the Rocky Mountains with outdoor activities during the Men's Mountain Weekend. In March, women hold a Women's Artisan Weekend where they enjoy learning new skills and meeting new friends.

DiscoveryBound
DiscoveryBound--the name for what used to be known as A/U's Field Chapter programs--is adding new local chapters and strengthening old ones. The program provides many regional events for young teens and their friends as well as one or two national events each year. Every other year participants travel overseas to visit our Australia chapters for their famous Easter week event. DiscoveryBound is giving teenage Christian Scientists the same kinds of strengthening activities that Cap and Marianne started in the summer camps at the Ranches, but doing it in the local communities and in regional and national events. These teens may have attended any one or none of the six summer camps for Christian Scientists. All are welcomed.

A/U's Adult Programs
A/U's Adult Programs includes many diverse programs around the United States with the "Celebrate Marriage" Workshop as one of the most popular. A/U Expeditions takes adults on adventurous treks around the world rafting, biking, mountain hiking, canoeing, etc. Participants are particularly pleased to have these activities with other Christian Scientists and new friends.

The 100 Elk Outdoor Center
The 100 Elk Outdoor Center is A/U's off-season, public and private school education program specifically designed to meet the needs of 5-8th graders. The public school systems have, in some cases, requirements for a 3-4 day outdoor education activity away from their school district. With our trained staff, the 100 Elk program is successfully meeting that need.

TOMORROW...
Where will Adventure Unlimited be in the future?
That's yet to unfold, but it will always include the spirit and mission set forth by the founders, Cap and Marianne. "To provide inspiring recreational, social, educational, and service activities for Christian Scientists and their friends, especially children and young people, in an atmosphere conducive to the recognition of the practicality and effectiveness of Christian Science."

"This day drops down upon the glories of summer; it is a glad day,
in attune with faith's fond trust. We live in an age of Love's divine
adventure to be All-in all.
...today lends a new-born beauty to holiness, patience, charity, love."
Miscellany, By Mary Baker Eddy, Page 158, Lines 7-10, 14 (today)
